Antes de la nueva película de Tintín dirigida por Steven Spielberg, ya hubo películas de Tintín con actores. En 1961 se rodó en Estambul (Turquía) la película franco-belga "Tintín y el misterio del Toisón de Oro" dirigida por el francés Jean-Jacques Vierne, escrita y dibujada por Hergé (Georges Prosper Remi 1907-1983). Y en 1964 se rodó en las localidades de Gandía y Xátiva (España), la película franco-española "Tintín y el misterio de las naranjas azules" dirigida por el francés Philippe Condroyer. Ninguna de las dos películas son adaptaciones de los cómics, sino guiones y aventuras originales.
